A couple of additional notes:

1. The source data from the BP Statististical Review of World Energy includes all forms of liquid crude production, including oil sands, condensates, etc - everything but biofuels. So there are no missing types of crude oil production in this list, as in some data sets where only conventional crude production is considered.

2. This list accounts for 100% of the planet Earth's crude oil production. Arctic oil, deep offshore, it's all included, because all of it falls under the territorial claims of one of the above nations (or catch-all regions like "Other Middle East").

No offense to Y, but i love how the main complaint is the porper name of a country and it's capital. Regardless of the fact that our way of life based on oil could end within our lifetimes.

This is one of the most comprehensive--and blessedly succinct!--portraits of the oil situation that I've seen.

Thanks for your work.

Y, I believe you are correct on the official name of the Republic of Congo - I used the version of the name given in the BP Statistical Review of World Energy, to make comparisons to the source material more straightforward.

Interesting. Oil has been of great benefit. Now for the true cost.

(edit note: Isn't Rep. of Congo (Brazzaville) just called "Rep. of Congo". Brazzaville being the capital city.)
